How we work
SHCLA is a community land trust that acquires homes in Alameda County and master leases them to adult residential facility operators; SHCLA also acquires homes in Alameda County and creates collectively owned cooperatives/condos for parents of adult children with mental health challenges; both of our models serve residents with serious mental health illnesses.
Land is owned by the community.
SHCLA maintains ownership of the land and preserves its long-term availability as affordable permanent supportive housing.
Community-based stewardship.
SHCLA ensures the homes remain affordable and available as permanent supportive housing. Services are provide by community partners.
Resident-centered. SHCLA works with residents to create resident councils and provides opportunities to serve on our board and advisory committee.
